Resident Artist Program

ArtHatch brings artists, students, collectors, and the public together through working studios, wall spaces, exhibitions, and open community access in downtown Escondido. Resident artists build their practices in a visible creative environment where visitors can meet artists, see work in progress, and connect directly with local culture.

Artist Community

Residents work alongside peers across media, creating daily opportunities for exchange, collaboration, critique, and professional growth.

Mentorship

The program connects emerging and established artists through shared studio life, exhibitions, public events, and informal guidance.

Public Access

Open studios and receptions invite the public into the creative process, making contemporary art approachable, local, and participatory.

Working Studios

Studio and wall spaces give artists room to produce, present, and sustain a visible practice within an active arts center.

Exhibitions

Resident artists are part of a broader gallery ecosystem with regular exhibitions, receptions, and opportunities to reach new audiences.

Community Impact

The program strengthens Escondido's cultural corridor by supporting artists, attracting visitors, and offering accessible arts experiences.

Studios are ideal for artists, photographers, writers, architects, digital artists, or similar creatives. Musicians are considered on a case-by-case basis. We have an amazing group of down-to-earth creatives.

Accessibility:

Our full downstairs space is ADA compliant, including 44"+ wide hallways, ADA-approved hardware, and fully compliant ADA restrooms, as well as ramps with railings. Our 2nd story is only accessible by stairs, but otherwise meets all ADA requirements.

Our teen program will be moving downstairs in Sept, 2026.

Comfort:

Our studios are extremely comfortable. We have three newer HVAC units: one that serves the downstairs and 2 for upstairs. We also have a full building ventilation system to keep the air inside fresh. Upstairs studios all have either a window or a solar tube for natural light. All studios have ceiling fans and track lights. Most studios have steel doors for ultimate privacy. Our building is cleaned weekly, but we do ask that artists be tidy and help to pitch in, especially cleaning up after themselves in shared spaces to keep the space enjoyable for all.

Safety:

Our entire facility is safe and regularly inspected by the Fire and Health Departments. Our fire extinguishers are serviced annually, and we have more extinguishers and smoke detectors than are required by law. We meet or exceed all local codes and take great pride in that. For that reason, surge protectors must be used on all outlets, and we do not allow open flames, smoking, candles, or incense in the building. Additionally, we have exterior cameras, interior cameras in gallery spaces, and a dual zone alarm system.

If you are interested in joining our community, please email us to find out more and get on the waitlist. Please include your website, IG, or samples of your work, along with an explanation of why you would like to join the ArtHatch family.

We currently have one wall space available for $90/month. If you are interested, please email 5 samples of your artwork to the following address. email us

Wall spaces are available throughout the downstairs, starting at $90/month.

Additionally, we are in the process of adding 5 additional spaces, which will rent for $100-$150/month. They will be newly built walls with smooth texture, Swiss coffee paint, and recessed lighting. They will be in a newly created 60" wide corridor located downstairs. Email us to see the layout and reserve your spot. Prices include:
